In all seriousness, I'll give you some pointers on getting responses.
- use open ended questions
- post thought provoking topics
- interact with people who post in a positive manner
That's it. Also, keep in mind that a good many of my topics don't get responses.
Consider your thread here. You use a question "is anyone a fan?" That is a yes or no, closed ended question. Furthermore, it doesn't require thought. Finally, it makes it sound as if you're wanting responses from people who are fans, so those who aren't aware of the strip may not answer. How about using "What do you think of this comic? I really like it." Or, "What are some of your favorite comics?" Each of these requires the reader to use thoughtful analysis and converse upon the thread topic. Furthermore, it encourages people to interject themselves into the conversation. Finally, it gives a feeling of closeness and familiarity that "is anyone a fan?" does not.
And that's my helpful tidbit for the month.

Now a question. Why do men want to pad themselves up and shoot a puck around an icerink or clim into a ring and beat the crap out of each other? Most would say it is spoort but I find it hard to see anything artistic about it
You use the term "men" too loosely. I don't want to do those things.

by beksbks inthe story of the cracked potan elderly chinese woman had two large pots , each hung on the ends of a pole , which she carried across her neck.
one of the pots had a crack in it while the other pot was perfect and always delivered a full portion of water , at the end of the long walk from the stream to the house , the cracked pot arrived only half full.. .
for a full two years this went on daily , with the woman bringing home only one and a half pots of water.
